The Northeast Neighborhood Association, a neighborhood group in Elgin, Il. procurred a City of Elgin Neighborhood Improvement Grant in order to produce a comprehensive neighborhood plan for their large neighborhood. Paul Bednar Planning & Design, Ltd. was hired to facilitate the planning process and produce the final report which is expected to be approved in early 2007. The planning process involves a significant amount of neighbor input. Numerous meetings and interviews with residents, neighborhood institutions, schools, various city staff, and the Neighborhood Plan Committee have taken place. A resident survey was mailed to all dwellings in the district, early in the process. The Plan has identified the major strengths and challenges of the neighborhood and will address each with a series of action steps. The plan uses many graphics, photos and charts to illustrate the major points of the report. The Neighborhood Plan will then be incorporated into the City Comprehensive Plan Images and Illustrations include: report cover; a zoning plan with comments; a report page illustrating various issues; a photo of a comunity-building event; the page format of the report; a plan created to focus on the commercial edge of the neighborhood. |
